Shipshape Data is a London AI consultancy. We build the data foundation your AI depends on, then the AI on top: strategy, development, and delivery that stays past go-live. Everything we do rests on one belief: get the data core right and everything built on it can be trusted; get it wrong and nothing on top is worth building.

## How we got here

It started with Enterprise Chat, our first product. It let people talk to their data: ask a question, get an answer back. The key was making the output reliable. The interface was never the hard part.

As we scaled the business, we kept coming back to the same thing. People's data was a mess and their AI projects were failing as soon as they went to push them into production. Every AI project became a data project.

Where the data underneath was fragmented, undefined, or ungoverned, the AI was confidently wrong. Point the same model at a clean foundation and it becomes useful. The data core became the determining factor for success.

So we changed the order of the work. Instead of starting with the use case, we start at the centre: get the data AI-ready, build the layer that connects it safely, then deliver the capabilities on top. That is why the foundation sits at the centre of everything we do.

## The model

### The core

The data foundation: cloud data warehouse, medallion architecture, and a semantic layer.

### The connective layer

Connectivity, governance and business logic, including the protocols (such as MCP) that let models reach governed data without losing control of it.

### The outer ring

The AI capabilities: search and retrieval, document intelligence, classification, forecasting, conversational platforms, and workflow automation and agents.

## What we build

Four services carry the model: AI strategy (readiness, roadmap, and business case, designed by the team that delivers it), data consultancy, AI development, and data migration. All nine specialisms are at Services.

## The practical details

Shipshape Data is based in London and works with mid-market and enterprise organisations across manufacturing, private equity, supply chain and logistics, facilities management, and IoT and telecoms. We practise what we preach: this site runs its own public API and MCP servers, so agents can use us the way we build for clients.
